Ways to engage with COP26

This week, COP 26 began in Glasgow. COP 26 is the 26th Conference of Parties and is a United Nations summit about Climate Change and how countries are planning to tackle it.

We are highlighting some of activities, prayers and resources offered from across the Christian community at this time.

‘We still, just, have time to follow God in the work of restoration, transformation and reconciliation with our planet. The peoples of the world need their leaders to decide now on the necessary action. Reconciliation with creation proclaims the friendship of Christ, opens us to relationship with one another, and obeys God the creator. Jesus teaches us there are no greater commandments than to love God and love our neighbour. To keep those commandments as Christians today, we must step up to the challenge of climate change.’

Archbishop of Canterbury, the most Revd Justin Welby (Twitter)

‘Praying for all those gathering for COP 26. This is such an important moment for the planet as ways to deal with the very significant Climate Emergency are considered. Every one of us needs our leaders to decide now on swift, timely and vital action’

Galvin Calver, CEO of the Evangelical Alliance (Twitter)

Many have made their way to Glasgow through a variety of means undertaking a variety of routes and methods. One such group was the Youth Christian Climate Network, an action-focused community of young Christians in the UK aged 18-30, choosing to follow Jesus in the pursuit of climate justice have now arrived in Glasgow.
