Pray24Brum - Find Out More
In 2003 Urban Devotion Birmingham was established with a group of people praying, walking the streets, listening to residents and other organisations, and serving children and young people in the community of Erdington. Over the years we’ve developed how we’ve done this including working in schools, running drop-in clubs, mentoring and therapy, doing detached youth work on the streets, providing places to explore faith and so much more. The vision has never changed. We believe that God wants to write a story in Birmingham where children, young people and families from the some of the least advantaged parts of the city embrace a bright and hopeful future. We’re about Transforming Communities One Life At A Time from a foundation of prayer.
UDB are now a staff team of 16, with many wonderful volunteers giving their time and skills. Last year we had 22960 points of contact with children, young people and their families. It is individual stories that really tell the story of positive change that stems from consistent presence, prayer and partnership. A teenager whom we had known since age 8 through work in local schools and drop-in clubs, was having significant difficulties with her mental health. Her relationship with her parents was at crisis point. Our team worked closely with the family and social worker, started weekly mentoring and provided volunteering opportunities to boost her self-worth and esteem. Her case was subsequently de-escalated by Children’s Services because of UDB’s involvement. She is now volunteering weekly at our clubs for younger children and last summer she attended Limitless Festival with us and chose to begin following Jesus, regularly participating in our Exploring Faith groups since then.
We would love to invite you be part of the story of transformation through praying, giving time or giving financially. To sign up to do any of these things please scan the QR code. You are also invited to join us on Friday 21st June at St Barnabas Church in Erdington from 7 – 9.45pm. This will be an evening of experiencing a UDB drop-in, stories from the past 20 years, looking ahead to the future, and having time to pray for UDB and the community of Erdington – all with cake! The QR code will also take you to a page where you can RSVP, so we know who is coming.
Lastly, if you belong to a church who would be interested in hearing more from UDB, please reach out to us. We’re eager to connect and offer encouragement to your community so together and through the power and presence of Jesus Birmingham is a city embracing a bright and hopeful future .
