Time4Change prayer meeting

Steve Botham, a member of Birmingham’s inter-denominational, anti-racism Time4Change group, shares about a prayer event to be held on the evening of Thursday 20 January, during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

‘What an important time to pray together across the city. 2022 is a vital year for Birmingham. The eyes of the nation will be on us as we host the Commonwealth Games. It is still Time4Change and at this prayer time we want to address some key issues. We want to start the year united in prayer, one church, one people, expecting God’s to move. ‘Our eyes look to the Lord our God’ (Psalm 123:2).

We warmly welcome you to join us in person at Birmingham City Church, 65 Parade, Birmingham, B1 3QQ, from 8.00pm until 9.30pm on Thursday 20 January. Please arrive well before 8.00pm to go through Covid-19 arrangements and say hello to others. Alternatively, you can join us via BCC’s YouTube channel (Link HERE).

The prayer meeting will focus on three key areas:

  • To turn away from our division as church. This builds on the prayer gathering held at St Andrew’s Football Stadium in October 2021, where we repented of our racial divisions. Now we bring our divisions as churches before God, our independence, the hurts and pain – and commit to a new unity
  • Being ready to serve – praying for Birmingham
  • Standing As one – praying for the Great Commission – good news across Birmingham, for the Great Commandment – moving to deeper level of love for one another, and the Great Collaboration – united to bless.

These are key steps in our journey to end racial division and see God’s kingdom come. We are building a new unity and the prayer will be led by leaders standing together and ready to serve. This links with the wider prayer week for Christian Unity in Birmingham. It’s Time4Change.’
