At 7.30pm on Monday 28 November, the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education will host ‘Tidings of Comfort and Joy?,’ an opportunity to reflect on Advent and Christmas at a time of crisis and uncertainty.
The period leading up to Christmas is usually one of excitement and joy. With the cost-of-living crisis, the ongoing war in Ukraine, uncertainty in politics and other factors, the Advent and Christmas seasons may feel less joyous than usual for many individuals and families this year. This one-evening-only panel event at the start of Advent provides an opportunity to reconsider Advent and Christmas at such a challenging time.
At the event, a resource booklet will be provided for individuals and/or groups to use to facilitate ongoing reflection through the Advent season. Drawing together Scripture, prayer, poetry, reflections and actions, the resource booklet will offer a way to keep the conversation going and create space to explore the themes more fully. It would make an ideal guide for a short series of home-group sessions.
The event will be held in person at the Queen’s Foundation Chapel and live-streamed as a webinar for those who live at a distance. Tickets are available for a suggested price of £5 to pay towards the costs of the event. Free tickets are available for those who cannot afford to make the suggested contribution.
