Revd Graham Thompson, 2022/2023 President of the Methodist Conference, along with Vice-President Mr Anthony Boateng, will visit the Birmingham Methodist District over the weekend of Friday 10 to Sunday 12 March. A series of events are planned around the District, which has ten circuits serving a total of 128 Methodist congregations from Lichfield in the north to Ross on Wye in the south. Three of the ten circuits are located in and around Birmingham and Solihull – the Birmingham Circuit, Birmingham Sutton Park Circuit and Birmingham West and Oldbury Circuit.
From 7.00pm on Friday 10 March, an ‘Open Mic’ youth jamming evening will take place at Earlsdon Methodist Church, Albany Road, Coventry, CV5 6NF. The event is open to all in school years 6 to 13. Information and registration HERE.
The main event of the weekend will be the ‘Re:Planting’ District Day on Saturday 11 March, from 10.00am to 4.00pm at Kenilworth Methodist Church, Priory Road, Kenilworth, CV8 1LQ. The focus of the Day is ‘Church on the Margins,’ which will be explored through workshops for all ages. The ‘margins’ are the circumstances and places where people feel excluded, overlooked, dis-empowered, or lack a sense of belonging. The workshops will cover themes such as ‘Revival At the Margins,’ ‘Working with Victims of Crime,’ ‘Faith-rooted Community Organising,’ ‘Church Action on Poverty’ and ‘Rural Experience: Being on the Margins.’ In addition to the President and Vice-President of Conference, the guest speaker will be former Vice-President Deacon Eunice Attwood, who serves as the Methodist ‘Church At The Margins’ Officer. Friday 24 to Sunday 26 March will be the ‘Amplify’ weekend of activities, worship and fun for young people aged 8 – 18 and their leaders, run by the Birmingham and the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury Methodist Districts.
