New Appointments

Recent announcements have been made by both the Church of England Birmingham and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Archdeacon of Aston

The new Archdeacon of Aston is to be Revd Phelim O’Hare, who currently ministers in the Church of England Birmingham as the Area Dean of Kings Norton, Moseley & Shirley.

Principal of Queen’s 

The Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Educational announced the appointment of the Right Revd Anne Hollinghurst as its new Principal from September 2024. Bishop Anne, currently Bishop of Aston in the Church of England Birmingham, will succeed current Queen’s Principal Professor Clive Marsh, who will retire in the summer.

Racial Justice Director

The Revd Dr Evie Vernon O’Brien has been appointed as Racial Justice Director for the Church of England in the West Midlands, working in the Dioceses of Birmingham, Coventry, Gloucester, Hereford, Lichfield and Worcester (Read full details HERE).

Two Auxiliary Bishops-Elect

The Holy Father Pope Francis has appointed Mgr Timothy Menezes (Dean of St Chad’s Cathedral) and Canon Richard Walker (Vicar General) to be new Auxiliary Bishops to serve the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
