AtaLoss: Listening People

ListeningPeople – An introduction to children, young people & loss. Tickets, Mon 26 Feb 2024 at 16:00 | Eventbrite

Our session will be led by Pete English MBACP, a highly regarded trainer in this field. Pete has over 25 years of experience working with young people through counselling in schools and leading church-based youth work – he really does know what it is like to support young people through difficult times. Pete has a wealth of up to date and ‘real life’ examples to draw on from his weekly input in local secondary and primary schools, as well as online training of teachers, youth leaders and other professionals working with young people.

This 2 hour introductory training session will provide an overview to the complex topic of how children and young people manage loss. The webinar is suitable for church & statutory sector youth workers, teachers, and anyone who supports children and young people. There will be time for specific questions from participants. Depending on the size of the group, we are usually able to tailor the course to examine specific subjects that the group wish to explore. Further specific help & signposting is also available by emailing Pete. The course will offer the following learning outcomes:

• An understanding of how the recent open public grieving impacts on the grieving experience of CYP (if at all) and if CYP are still being impacted by the huge losses during COVID;

• An exploration of some theory of loss and how it might apply to CYP;

• Giving you confidence to support CYP impacted by loss;

• Introducing a whole host of ready to use ideas and tool including our Tough Stuff journal – Someone Has Died (available to purchase in advance from https://www.ataloss.org/shop).

• We’ll also send you a key list of hyperlinks to relevant organisations that can provide you with information, support and resources.

Those who want to come back for more can also sign up for the part 2 course!

Pete English provide more in-depth training for individuals or organisations wishing to develop their professional skills in this area and also bespoke packages for whole school training on request.

We levy a small charge on our training events to cover our costs. However, if you are unable to cover the full cost of the webinar please contact the course administrator – we may be able to help. We want all young people to get the bereavement support they need. Contact: vicky@ataloss.org
