About Adavu
Now a registered charity (CIO no. 1199391), Adavu was founded in 2011 as a project of the Birmingham Methodist District to raise awareness on modern slavery and give support to victims of this global crime.
Role description
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic volunteer to help take Adavu to its next stage of development with an effective Marketing and Communications Strategy.
Key tasks will include:
- to work with trustees and staff to create an effective Marketing and Communications Policy and Strategy
- to advise and support trustees and staff on an ongoing basis on how to improve its marketing and communications, overseeing an annual review
- to work with Adavu staff to create a regular scheduling of quality, sensitive and impactful social posts in line with our internal guidelines
- to advise, support and potentially participate in responses to media approaches.
Person specifications
Adavu welcomes applicants with the right experience from diverse backgrounds, including people who have personal/lived experience of modern slavery and/or exploitation.
We also welcome volunteers from outside the EU/EAA, as long as their visa allows voluntary work. You will also need to arrange your own travel and accommodation.
To become our Marketing and Communications Volunteer, you will also need:
- marketing and communications skills – experience is desirable but not essential
- creativity and willingness to think of new ideas to reach out and communicate effectively and impactfully
- to attend training and regular supervision
- commitment to maintaining confidentiality on sensitive information.
As part of Adavu’s Safer Recruitment Policy, we ask applicants to complete a Self-Declaration Form and may also require volunteers to have undertaken an enhanced DBS Check without barring information before starting their volunteer induction. However, those who may come with a criminal record can be assured that this information will not necessarily exclude them from service to Adavu.
How to apply
If this role sounds like you, you can apply by sending a one-page cover letter/email to gravagnai@adavu.org.uk telling us:
- Why you are interested in volunteering
- What interests you about Adavu and our work
- What you can offer to the role
- Your availability
We will review applications as we receive them, and we will contact you to let you know about the next steps.
Thank you for your interest in this role: we look forward to hearing from you!
This role is part of a wider volunteer strategy that is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. |
