Supporting victims of modern slavery

‘Hope at Home’ and ‘Adavu’ invite you to their joint ‘Modern Slavery: What Can I Do?’ event at Birmingham Vineyard, 174-178 Barford Street, Digbeth B5 7EP, at 7.30pm on Tuesday 1 October.

At the 90-minute gathering, you’ll hear from ‘Hope at Home,’ explaining how the charity supports survivors of slavery who are facing homelessness into safe housing, and how you can get involved in being a host:

  • Jared is the co-founder and CEO of Hope at Home. Working for over 25 years in the hospitality sector and now for over seven years in the Anti Trafficking charity sector, he is passionate about ending slavery and supporting survivors.
  • Hosting Manager at Hope at Home, Sarah has over ten years of leading community projects and working to help vulnerable people in our communities. She is passionate about supporting hosts and survivors and working with our Hosting Team to support success placements.
  • After moving to a new home in 2018 which had a spare room, Jess felt moved to use the room for a good cause. Jess has hosted alone, whilst having a lodger, and with their partner.

Liisa, CEO of Adavu, will share vital information on modern slavery and human trafficking, focusing on what is happening within communities in Birmingham and the Midlands, and how Adavu is working to combat these issues. Liisa has almost 25 years working in and leading neighbourhood-led regeneration and charities tackling destitution and modern slavery, in addition to having run her own consultancy. She is driven by a passion to support others to rebuild their lives and communities.
