Singing for sanctuary

The staff team members of ‘Restore’ are preparing to sing non-stop for 100 minutes on Friday afternoon, 30 April, in order to raise funds for their work. Restore is a project of Birmingham Churches Together, which, through befriending, social activities and training, welcomes and supports refugees and those seeking sanctuary .

Jeremy, Andy, Catherine and Joshua – now known as the ‘Fab Four from Restore!’ – will undertake the singing marathon as part of the ‘Captain Tom 100 Challenge.’ Sponsors of the singathon are invited to nominate a song for the team to sing. Requests so far include Sweet Caroline, Simply the Best, Love is Easy, Yesterday and How Great Thou Art. Watch a short promo video via THIS LINK.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, the performance will take place outdoors in a socially-distanced manner. No audience will be permitted, but the singathon will be live-streamed from 1.55pm on Friday. To watch the event live, click on the YouTube page HERE. At time of writing, the Restore team members have raised over £1,300 in sponsorship. To sponsor Jeremy, Andy, Catherine and/or Joshua, visit THIS WEBPAGE.

In addition to the Jeremy’s, Andy’s, Catherine’s and Joshua’s efforts, Nick Lampert, one of Restore’s volunteer befrienders, has embarked on his own ‘Captain Tom 100’ Challenge to raise funds for Restore. Nick will be playing flute duets for 100 minutes. To read more about Nick’s fundraising drive, or to sponsor him for his 100-minute challenge, click HERE.
