Pastor undertaking 40 prayer walks through Birmingham postcodes

Andy Mackie, Executive Pastor at Riverside Church, is undertaking 40 prayer walks covering each of Birmingham’s postcodes. On ten weekday mornings over the last two weeks, he has already walked in postcodes B1 to B11 inclusive, plus B13 and B14. On Monday (13 July), Andy begins another series of short prayer walks, this week praying in B12, B15, B16, B17 and B18.

Each day, Andy is praying at a specific church building at 9.00am, before prayer-walking around the postcode area between 9.15am and 10.00am. When Andy will have completed his 15th day of prayer-walking on Friday (17 July), he will take a break until he starts again on Monday 7 September.

Andy says, ‘I want to make a statement of intent to myself, the heavenlies, and the church across Birmingham, that I am here for the blessing of this city. The prayer walk may also have a positive knock on effect in connecting leaders and parts of the church together, or at least give us some fresh insights as to how to better do that. I also want to hear perhaps what part God might have me play in the continued evangelisation and transformation of our city.’

All are welcome to join Andy in prayer during the coming week. To do so, you will need to be at the following locations in time for a 9.00am start:

  • Edward Road Baptist Church, Edward Road, Balsall Heath, B12 9LY, on Monday 13 July
  • Edgbaston Old Church, Church Road, Edgbaston, B15 3TA, on Tuesday 14 July
  • Christchurch, Gillott Road, Summerfield, B16 0EZ, on Wednesday 17 July
  • St John’s, High Street, Harboune, B17 9PT, on Thursday 18 July
  • Life Community Church, Lodge Road, Hockley, B18 5PW, on Friday 19 July
