Professor Clive Marsh has been appointed to the role of Principal of the Birmingham-based, ecumenical Queen’s Foundation. Clive will succeed the Revd Canon Dr David Hewlett, who retires in the summer. Clive has had a life-long commitment to adult theological education in a number of settings, and brings to Queen’s significant ecumenical experience.
Clive’s academic research spans work on the historical Jesus, Christology and the interface between theology and public culture. Clive’s recent publications include ‘A cultural theology of salvation’ (OUP, 2018) and ‘So what’s the Story…?: A Resource Book for Christian Reflection and Practice’ (DLT, 2019, co-authored with Revd Barbara Glasson).
The Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education trains ministers for, among others, the Church of England, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church.
Clive Marsh is currently Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, serving alongside President of Conference, Revd Dr Barbara Glasson. Their term of office ends in July 2020, following which Clive will begin a handover period at Queen’s, before starting work formally on 1 September. More information here.
